Ms Gillian Meller FCIS FCS

Gillian Meller FCIS FCS is currently the Legal and European Business Director of MTR Corporation Limited (Stock code: 66). She is responsible for the provision of commercial legal support and advice to all aspects of the company’s business. In addition to her responsibility for the strategic management of the company’s insurance programmes and its governance and risk management function, she also manages and oversees the growth of the company’s European Business.
Ms Meller has been a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS) and The Chartered Governance Institute (formerly The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators) since 2016. Ms Meller is currently the President of HKICS. Prior to becoming the HKICS President, she was a Vice-President from March 2018 and the Chairman of the Professional Development Committee from 2018 to 2019. She has also served as a member of the Company Secretaries Panel since 2013.
Ms Meller graduated from Hertford College, University of Oxford in the United Kingdom and holds a Master of Arts degree in Geography. She then obtained her postgraduate qualifications in law from The College of Law in Guildford, the United Kingdom. She also completed the Stanford Executive Programme at Stanford University, United States of America, in 2010. Ms Meller is qualified to practice as a solicitor in Hong Kong and England and Wales. She is a Member of the Standing Committee on Company Law Reform in Hong Kong and a Vice Chairman of the Legal Committee of The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.
The Honourable Christopher Hui Ching-yu JP

Christopher Hui was appointed the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury on 22 April 2020.
Mr Hui was an Administrative Officer in the Government from 1999 to 2003 and served in the Economic Development Branch, the Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing and the Home Affairs Department. Mr Hui worked in the banking sector after leaving the Government in 2003 and has worked for the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited for over 10 years. He has been the Executive Director of the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council since 2019.
Mr Hui holds Bachelor and Master (Hon) Degrees in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, and Master of Business Administration Degree from INSEAD. He also attended the Stanford Executive Programme.
Mr Peter Greenwood MA FCIS FCS
Peter Greenwood MA FCIS FCS holds a Master of Arts degree in law from the University of Cambridge and a diploma in German law and legal system from the University of Tuebingen and the Justice Ministry of North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2006, Mr Greenwood completed full-time study for a Master of Arts degree in War Studies from King's College, London University. He is a solicitor in England and Wales and in Hong Kong, as well as being qualified as an avocat in France.
Mr Greenwood was admitted as a Fellow of The Chartered Governance Institute (formerly known as The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators) and The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS) in 2001. He is currently a representative of HKICS on the International Council of The Chartered Governance Institute and Chairman of its Thought Leadership Committee. He has served on different committees and panels of HKICS. From 1997 to 2005, Mr Greenwood was a member of the Company Secretaries Panel of HKICS. He served on the Technical Committee as a consultant in 2001 and as a member in 2002 and 2003, and on the Appeal Tribunal as a member from 2005 to 2007 and as the Chairman from 2008 to 2013. Mr Greenwood was the Chairman of the Advisory Board from 2012 to 2014. Also, he has been serving on the Technical Consultation Panel as a member since 2006. He has been the Chairman of HKICS’s biennial Corporate Governance Conference for many years.
Mr Greenwood served on the HKSAR Government’s Standing Commission on Company Law Reform and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s Listing Committee. He is the Co-Chairman and lead international resource on the corporate governance training programmes of the Standing Committee of Public Enterprises in India.
From 2007 to 2013, Mr Greenwood was the Group Executive Director – Strategy of CLP Holdings, one of the largest investor-owned companies in the Asian power sector, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. His principal focus was to work on matters of a strategic nature impacting the overall direction of the CLP Group. He was also responsible for the oversight of CLP Group's corporate secretarial and legal affairs. Prior to stepping down in 2005, Mr Greenwood was an Executive Director (since 2001), the Company Secretary and Corporate Counsel (since 1996) of CLP Holdings. He retired in May 2013.
Before joining the CLP Group in 1995, Mr Greenwood was a Senior Commercial Lawyer with the Provisional Airport Authority, Hong Kong, and prior to that was in private practice as a solicitor with leading corporate law firms in London, Hamburg, Hong Kong and Paris.

April Chan FCIS FCS is the former Company Secretary of CLP Holdings Limited (CLP). She has extensive experience and expertise in company secretarial practice and was instrumental in developing and implementing the framework of corporate governance in CLP. Mrs Chan was named Asian Company Secretary of the Year in 2013 by Corporate Governance Asia and is a frequent presenter on corporate governance in Hong Kong and overseas. Before joining CLP, she has worked in professional firms and academic institutions in Hong Kong and Australia.
Mrs Chan is a Chartered Secretary, Chartered Governance Professional, a Fellow of The Chartered Governance Institute (formerly known as The Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators) and a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS). She was educated in Hong Kong and completed the Senior Executives Course at Tsinghua University, Beijing in 1997, the Leadership in the Public Sector Programme run by the HKSAR Government in 2000, and the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School, USA in 2001.
Mrs Chan was the inaugural President of Corporate Secretaries International Association (CSIA) and a Past President of HKICS, Past Chairman of HKICS Company Secretaries Panel, a Past Member of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations of the Independent Commission Against Corruption in Hong Kong and Past Hon Secretary of The Hong Kong Women Professionals & Entrepreneurs Association Limited. Mrs Chan is currently the Chairman of HKICS Technical Consultation Panel, Appeal Tribunal and Public Governance Interest Group, a member of HKICS Nomination Committee; a member of the Advisory Committee for the School of Business and Hospitality Management of the Caritas Institute of Higher Education and the Hon Secretary of The Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation.

Michael Ling is the deputy company secretary for CLP Holdings Limited and oversees the day to day functions of CLP Group Corporate Secretarial and works closely with the Board of Directors of CLP Holdings and the Board Committees.
Prior to taking up this position in 2016, Mr Ling was the legal counsel on the international team of CLP Group Legal Affairs for over four years. Before joining CLP, he was in the group legal function of AIA Group Limited and was involved in the restructuring of the AIA group of companies. Ms Chan was Head of IPO of the Listing Division at the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited between 2007 and 2010.

Teresa Ko is Freshfields’ China Chairman and Senior Partner, Hong Kong.
Described as ’an icon in the industry’, Ms Ko is one of the most prominent corporate and securities lawyers in Hong Kong.
Ms Ko has helped numerous businesses list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKSE), including Chinese state-owned, privately owned and international companies. Many of these were high-profile or ‘first of a kind’ ground-breaking transactions.
Ms Ko has listed nine out of ten of the largest initial public offerings (IPOs) in Hong Kong, including that of Alibaba. This transaction was the world’s second-largest public offering in 2019, the first-ever public retail offering in Hong Kong to use a fully electronic application process, and the first-ever secondary listing of a qualified innovative and weighted voting rights company returning to Hong Kong from the US under Chapter 19C of the Hong Kong Listing Rules. She also advised on the listing of Budweiser APAC – Hong Kong’s second highest value IPO in 2019.
Ms Ko has also advised public and private companies on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate governance matters.
Ms Ko currently serves as one of four co-Chairmen of the HKSE’s inaugural Listing Review Committee. She is also a Deputy Chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission’s (SFC) Takeovers and Mergers Panel, a Trustee of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation and a member of the Cyberport Advisory Panel.
Among her many public service appointments, Ms Ko was the first female to chair the HKSE’s Listing Committee (between 2009 and 2011) and served as its Deputy Chairman from 2006 to 2008. She also served as a non-executive director of the SFC from 2012 to 2018.
Ms Ko joined Freshfields in 1988, becoming a partner in 1993 and China Chairman in 2011.

Mr Waters has also played a senior role in professional development of the firm’s consultants globally.
Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Mr Waters was a Consultant and Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company. Earlier in his career, he was a Systems Engineer and Marketing Representative with IBM Australia.

Mr Auyeung has over 40 years of experience in the insurance industry in Canada and Hong Kong. Before his retirement in June 2017, Mr Auyeung was Chairman – Asia of the Principal Financial Group Inc. (PFG), a Fortune 500 company, responsible for PFG’s overall businesses in Asia. During his time with PFG, Mr Auyeung represented PFG and its member companies across Asia in building and expanding PFG’s relationship with clients, joint venture partners and strategic investors, and assisting in business development across all products lines of PFG.
Mr Auyeung also actively serves the public sector and is currently an observer of the Independent Police Complaints Council Observers Scheme, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Investor and Financial Education Council under the Securities and Futures Commission. In addition, he is a board member of Bo Charity Foundation (Food Angel) and a convenor of the Advisory Committee of the Jockey Club Community eHealth Care Project.

Ms Wong has over 20 years of experience and has held various operations, client relations and business management positions in major international banks. Andrew Weir is the Regional Senior Partner of KPMG in Hong Kong and Vice Chairman of KPMG China and Global Chairman of Asset Management and Real Estate of KPMG International. Mr Weir has over 25 years' experience servicing listed companies, public bodies, investment funds and MNCs in Hong Kong, China, Asia and internationally.
Mr Weir has a keen interest in corporate governance, board leadership and business in the community and leads the quarterly KPMG Independent Non-Executive Directors Forum. He chairs the Listing Committee of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and sits on the advisory panels of the Securities Institute, Hong Kong Investor Relations Association and Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
Mr Weir was appointed by the HKSAR Government as a council member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. He sits on the Belt and Road Committee and chairs the International Working Group and the Global Belt and Road Forum. He was appointed by the HKSAR Government as a director of the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) and sits on the FSDC Policy Research Committee.
Mr Weir has had a number of senior national, global and regional roles with KPMG. He is currently the Global Chairman of Real Estate and Construction, and ASPAC Chairman of Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare, which also includes the real estate, hospitality and transport sectors. He is in the global leadership team of KPMG’s Belt & Road Centre of Excellence leading efforts in establishing greater linkages between Belt & Road country Governments and interested Chinese and International services private sector investment partners.
Mr Weir previously was Head of Capital Markets at KPMG China and Asset Management in Asia Pacific. He is Chairman of Pacific Basin Economic Council and Plan International and Deputy Chairman of UNESCAP on financial services and was previously Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and of Community Business Leadership Council as well as a member of the International Business Council.
Mr Weir was made an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2017 for his contribution to trade and investment links between Hong Kong and the UK. He is a Fellow of ICAEW, The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Hong Kong Institute of Directors and a regular speaker at forums and business schools and has an honours degree in Economics and a Master degree in Economic Development.
Mr Thomas Atkinson

Thomas Atkinson is an Executive Director with responsibility for the Enforcement Division. That Division is responsible for the surveillance of the securities and futures markets to identify unacceptable conduct as well as for investigating statutory offences and breaches of the legislation enforced by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), and disciplining licensed persons and initiating prosecutions where appropriate.
Prior to joining the SFC, Mr Atkinson was Director of Enforcement at the Ontario Securities Commission, Canada. Before that he was President and CEO of Market Regulation Services Inc, previously a national regulator of equity trading in Canada, and from 1996 to 2001 he held progressively senior positions with the Toronto Stock Exchange, including Vice President of Regulation Services. Mr Atkinson began his career as an Assistant Crown Attorney at the Ontario Court of Justice.

Mr Johnson joined Debevoise in March 2015. Prior to joining the firm, Mr Johnson was a partner at a leading international firm in Hong Kong, where he oversaw the opening of the firm's disputes practices in Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok, Beijing, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo.
For more than 25 years in the region, Mr Johnson has built a successful practice advising on shareholders' and directors' disputes, internal and regulatory investigations, commercial litigation and inquiries from a range of regulatory bodies, both in Asia and elsewhere. The primary jurisdictional areas being the United Kingdom, Singapore and Bermuda.
As Director of Group Corporate Affairs, Mr McNamara oversaw Jardine Matheson’s corporate communications strategy and functions. He was also chairman of the IT Governance Committee responsible for Jardine Matheson’s head office IT. Bernard Charnwut Chan is a deputy to the National People’s Congress of China, a non-official member of Hong Kong’s Executive Council (2004-2009 and from 2012) and (from 2017) the Convenor of the Non-Official Members of the Executive Council. Mr Chan is also a former member of Hong Kong’s Legislative Council (1998-2008).
A graduate of Pomona College in California, Mr Chan is the President of Asia Financial Holdings and Chairman of Asia Insurance. He is Chairman of the Hong Kong – Thailand Business Council and an advisor to Bangkok Bank (China) Co. Limited. He sits on the boards of several local and overseas companies in financial services and is a director of Bumrungrad Hospital Public Company in Thailand.
Among his public service activities, Mr Chan is Chairman of the Hong Kong Palace Museum Limited, Chairman of the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food, Chairman of Tai Kwun Culture & Arts Co. Limited, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Chronicles Institute and Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of Our Hong Kong Foundation. He was also a Trustee of Pomona College.
Mr Chan was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 2002, and a Commander (3rd Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand in 2004. In 2006, he was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the HKSAR Government. He has been conferred honorary degrees from Lingnan University, City University of Hong Kong, the Open University of Hong Kong and Savannah College of Art and Design.
